Christian Heidbreder, Ph.D., combines 25 years of leadership experience in research and development spanning the academic, governmental, and industrial sectors across Europe and the US. During his career, Dr. Heidbreder has published over 350 peer-reviewed scientific publications, reviews, book chapters, and published conference proceedings. Dr. Heidbreder began his career as a researcher at the University of Louvain in Belgium, at the National Institute on Drug Abuse in Baltimore, at Princeton University, and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich, Switzerland. Dr. Heidbreder subsequently held positions of increasing responsibility at GlaxoSmithKline in Harlow, United Kingdom and Verona, Italy, Altria, and Reckitt Benckiser Pharmaceuticals Inc. in Richmond, Virginia. In 2015, Dr. Heidbreder joined Indivior, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia as Chief Scientific Officer to build and lead global strategies to drive the development of new pharmacotherapies in addiction medicine and related psychiatric co-morbidities. He is also a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors since 2014 and an Affiliate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, Virginia since 2010.
