Morphine Milligram Equivalent (MME) Online Calculator: Webinar

Fri, 3/7/2025 - 12:00pm - 1:00pm

Overview

The NIH and HEAL Initiative are excited to announce the release of an online tool to calculate Morphine Milligram Equivalents (MME), a standardized metric to report prescribed opioid use. This webinar will explain the tool, demonstrate how researchers can use the tool to calculate MMEs for research purposes, and answer questions that HEAL PIs have regarding the use of the tool for calculating and reporting MME data.

Topics Include

  • What are Morphine Milligram Equivalents?
  • Why does the HEAL Common Data Elements program require researchers to report on MME?
  • Why is standardizing opioid measurements important for pain research?
  • Why did the NIH HEAL Initiative decide an MME calculator could be beneficial for research?
  • How can researchers utilize the new online calculator to more easily calculate MME data?
  • What information (variables) do researchers need to input into the online tool to calculate MMEs?
