Overview
During this 90-minute briefing, attendees heard from the leaders of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) about the Helping to End Addiction Long-term® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative®, a trans-NIH effort to speed scientific solutions to stem the national opioid public health crisis. Speakers described how HEAL is working to improve the prevention and treatment of opioid misuse and addiction, and the understanding, management and treatment of pain. The goal of this event is to share details on the progress and future opportunities of the NIH HEAL initiative as it nears its 5-year anniversary.
