6th Annual NIH HEAL Initiative Scientific Meeting

The Helping to End Addiction Long-term^® Initiative, or NIH HEAL Initiative^®, will bring together substance use and pain researchers; National Institutes of Health leadership and HEAL program officials; community partners, including people with lived and living experience and national advocacy organizations; and other stakeholders to explore,

• Scientific/technical research challenges and advances in prevention, management, and treatment of substance use disorder (SUD), overdose, and pain.
• Collaboration across research disciplines and communities affected by SUD and pain.
• Future HEAL research priorities.

The meeting will be held in-person at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland. It will include breakout sessions, workshops, poster sessions, networking, and meetings focused on specific HEAL research programs.

Additionally, we are excited to announce a portion of the 2025 HEAL Scientific Meeting will be dedicated to the 20th Annual NIH Pain Consortium Symposium! More details to follow.

HEAL researchers are encouraged to invite their community partners and advisors, including people with lived and living experience, to the meeting. Travel support may be available for these individuals.

Stay tuned for a call for symposia abstracts and workshop proposals, as well as a call for poster abstracts and NIH HEAL Initiative award nominations. Registration information will be available in Spring 2025.

Please note: This is an in-person meeting only, there will be no virtual meeting platform to support hybrid participation. Plenary sessions will be livestreamed via NIH VideoCast. Check back on this page closer to the meeting date to access a link to the livestream. Other sessions will not be available virtually.
